SASSA pays grants in a fixed order every month: older persons first, disability second, then children's grants. The Child Support Grant sits in that third group, together with the Foster Child Grant and the Care Dependency Grant. That means the date you see below is the date the money is released, not necessarily the day it lands in your account.
The next Child Support Grant payment date
The next children's payment day is Tuesday 3 November 2026. SASSA confirmed this revised November schedule on 15 October 2026, moving the children's date forward because the local government elections on Wednesday 4 November are a public holiday. December 2026 is still provisional at Friday 4 December 2026.

Why the date moves every month
SASSA does not pay on a fixed calendar number. It pays on the first available working days of the month, which is why the children's date lands anywhere between the 3rd and the 6th. A month that opens on a weekend or a public holiday pushes every payment day later, and a public holiday inside the first week — like the 4 November elections — can pull dates forward instead.
The children's day is always the third group in the cycle. Older Persons beneficiaries are paid first, Disability Grant beneficiaries second, and then Child Support, Foster Child and Care Dependency grants. If you receive more than one of these grants for the children in your care, they are paid on the same day — you do not wait for a second date.
How much is paid on the children's day
From April 2026 the Child Support Grant is R580 per child per month. The Foster Child Grant is R1,300 per child, and the Care Dependency Grant is R2,400 per month. A caregiver with three children on the Child Support Grant therefore receives R1,740 on the children's payment date, paid as one amount to the primary caregiver.
When the money actually reaches you
Bank account
SASSA releases the payment on the date above. An EFT to your own bank account usually reflects within one to three working days, and sometimes the same day.
Postbank card
The grant is available on the card on the payment date. You can draw it at an ATM or at a participating retailer till.
Cash at a retailer
If you collect cash at Shoprite, Checkers, Usave, Pick n Pay, Boxer or Spar, bring your ID and the phone number linked to your grant.
What to do if the payment is late
- Give it one full working day. Bank transfers are the most common reason a payment looks missing.
- Check your grant status before you travel to an office — a suspension, review or bank verification issue shows there first.
- Confirm your banking details are still correct, especially if you changed banks or closed an account.
- If five working days pass with no payment, call SASSA on 0800 60 10 11 or visit an office with your ID and the child's birth certificate.
- Never pay anyone who offers to release a late payment. SASSA does not charge for any grant service.
A missing payment is usually a detail problem
Most late Child Support Grant payments are caused by a bank account that no longer matches your name, a lapsed ID or a review that has not been completed — not by the grant being cancelled. Check your status first, then fix the specific issue on the page it points to.
Frequently asked questions
What is the next Child Support Grant payment date?
Tuesday 3 November 2026, the revised date SASSA confirmed on 15 October 2026 because of the 4 November public holiday. December is provisionally Friday 4 December 2026.
Is the Child Support Grant paid on the same day as the old age grant?
No. Older Persons grants are paid first, usually on the first or second working day. Disability follows, and children's grants are paid third, usually on the third working day of the month.

No. All the children on your application are paid together, on the same children's payment day, as one amount to the primary caregiver.
Why is my child support money not showing on the payment date?
SASSA releases the payment on that date, but a bank EFT can take one to three working days. If nothing reflects after five working days, check your status and then call 0800 60 10 11.
Can the payment date change after SASSA announces it?
It can, when a public holiday falls inside the payment week. SASSA published a revised November 2026 schedule on 15 October because of the 4 November elections. Always confirm on the official SASSA channels before travelling.
