New grant amounts from April 2026
The 1 April increase applies automatically — you do not need to apply for it or visit an office. From the first April payment, permanent grants pay at their new annual rates and the SRD R370 continues at its set monthly value.

Still short? Wait one cycle before panicking
System updates sometimes lag by a few days into April. If May still pays the old amount, call 0800 60 10 11 with your ID ready.
April is also when fiscal-year database re-verifications peak. Some beneficiaries receive review notices in the first two weeks. These are routine; respond promptly to keep payments flowing. Freedom Day (27 April) falls on a Monday but sits outside all pay dates this month.
What are the SASSA payment dates for April 2026?
Older Persons grants were paid on Thursday 2 April 2026, Disability grants on Friday 3 April, Children's grants on Monday 6 April (pushed past the weekend), and SRD R370 payments ran from 24 to 30 April.
Do I need to do anything to get the increased grant amount?
No. The increase applies automatically from your first April payment. There is no form, office visit, or reapplication involved.
Why did Children's grants pay on Monday 6 April instead of Friday?
Children's grants normally follow two working days after Disability. In April 2026 that calculation landed on Saturday 4 April, so the date shifted to Monday 6 April.
Did Freedom Day affect April payments?
No. Freedom Day fell on Monday 27 April, which is outside the permanent-grant window and inside the rolling SRD batches, so no scheduled date moved.
My April payment still shows last year's amount. Is that normal?
Occasionally system updates lag a few days. If your May payment is also wrong, phone 0800 60 10 11 or visit an office — underpayment is corrected with arrears once reported.
