How to Register on the SRD Portal
The SRD portal at srd.sassa.gov.za is your online hub for everything related to the SRD R370 grant. You can check your status, update your bank details, change your payment method, and view your payment history. Here is how to register and use the portal.
There is no separate registration form to fill in for the SRD portal — your account is created the moment you apply for the grant, using the phone number on your application. This guide takes you through your first login so you can see your status, update your details, and switch payment methods without travelling to a SASSA office.
How to Register for the First Time
Registration on the SRD portal is simple. You do not need to create a username or password — the system uses your ID number and a one-time PIN (OTP) sent to your phone.
Go to srd.sassa.gov.za
Open the website on your phone, tablet, or computer. The site works on all devices.
Enter your ID number
Type your 13-digit South African ID number in the field provided.
Enter your phone number
Enter the mobile phone number you used when you applied for the grant.
Click 'Send OTP'
An SMS with a one-time PIN will be sent to your phone. This may take a few seconds.
Enter the OTP
Type the OTP from your SMS into the portal. You are now logged in.
Explore your dashboard
Your dashboard shows your current status, payment history, and options to update your details.
What You Can Do on the SRD Portal
- Check your current grant status (Pending, Approved, Declined, etc.)
- View your payment history for previous months
- Update your bank account details
- Switch between bank transfer and Cash Send payment methods
- Update your phone number or personal details
- View your application reference number
- Check if any action is needed on your application
Troubleshooting Portal Access
- If you do not receive the OTP: check your network signal, ensure your phone has SMS storage space, and try again after 10 minutes
- If you changed your phone number: you cannot log in with the new number. Visit a SASSA office to update your registered phone number
- If the portal shows 'No Application Found': your ID may not be registered in the SRD system, or there may be a system error. Try again later or contact SASSA
- If the portal is down: try during off-peak hours (early morning or late evening). The portal experiences high traffic during month-end
Do I need an email address to register?
No. The SRD portal uses your ID number and phone number for access. No email or password is required.
Can I log in from any phone?
Yes, as long as you have the phone number registered with your SASSA application to receive the OTP.
What if I no longer have access to my registered phone number?
You must visit your nearest SASSA office with your ID to update your registered phone number.
Is the SRD portal free to use?
Yes. The portal itself is free. Standard data charges apply for using the internet on your phone.
